Uma Cardigan

The Uma Cardigan is worked top down and combines European shoulders and raglan techniques, allowing you to knit the upper part of the sleeves together with the upper part of the body. This means that you do not need to pick up stitches for the sleeves later.

The back is worked first with increases at each side, followed by picking up stitches for the shoulders, which are shaped with increases along the neckline. Stitches are then picked up for the sleeve caps, which are shaped using short rows. The work is joined on the same needle, and the front, sleeve caps, and back are worked back and forth with raglan increases. The sleeve stitches are then set aside, and the body is worked and finished with ribbing. The sleeves are worked next with decreases, followed by picking up stitches for the button bands, which are worked in double knitting, and for the neckband, which is worked in twisted rib.
